Austria currently has no charity lotteries due to monopoly legislation. This monopoly legislation is denying Austrian charities c. €73m in annual contributions from a restricted charity lottery product and c. €225m from a less restricted regime. Austria's lottery monopoly expires in 2027, giving the Austrian government an opportunity to unlock a significant income stream for charities
