Where can we find charity lotteries?
Charity lotteries currently only exist in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Germany (marked in green). If the entire map was green then we could raise more than 10 billion Euros each year for civil society!
To find detailed information on legal frameworks and (charity) lotteries in a particular country, please select one of the European countries. If you have any questions or comments let us know at info@acleu.eu.

Definition of a charity lottery
Across the world, lotteries donate part of their profits to good causes. These donations vary from a relatively low contribution to one specific sector to larger contributions for a much wider range of organisations.
Criteria of a charity lottery:
Privately operated, with a license from the national government.
No political interference in the distribution of the funds, with funding decisions made by an independent board.
No private profits made because the primary aim is to raise funds for charitable organisations.
A substantial part of revenue goes to benefiting organisations. What is considered substantial depends on the maturity of the lottery, the legal national requirements, and the market situation.
Institutional support is provided beneficiaries can spend the money as they see fit.
Long-term funding for organisations.
Our members
ACLEU is an alliance between the charity lotteries in Europe, whose main objective is to raise money for charity. Without our members, these additional funds would not exist, as the money raised is additional to state subsidies and private donations. You can find our current members here.
